I love getting deep into wrestling fans and personalities booking their “What If?” scenarios as it came to The Big Bang.
Even more than twenty-three years later, it’s still a dream scenario on what Eric Bischoff & Fusient Media Ventures would have done had the purchase gone through. It’s exciting to see passionate fans be creative and share their own ideas on what they would’ve done for May 6, 2001.
One of the more videos I caught was from the No Holds Barred Wrestling Podcast several weeks ago.
While searching X on content regarding the “Who Killed WCW?” documentary, I came across a pair of tweets from the Fins Talk Sports Network discussing the way both Bobby Melendez and Josh “the Kimmelnator” Kimmel would've booked the Big Bang rebirth event for WCW.
They actually had interesting parameters on the rules regarding creating a card regarding the talent used:
Instead of it being May 6, 2001, it would have been exactly one year after the final Nitro on March 26, 2002. Also, with the allotted performers provided, excluding talents that were signed by the WWF already, you had to build with who was available.
Bobby Melendez's Card
Josh Kimmel's Card
I admire both cards. Personally, if I took “the Kimmelnator’s” card, trimmed it down to the length of Bobby’s without many of the title opportunities, you’d have a perfect card.
Their reasons on the matches they made were interesting as well.
I’d have done only one thing differently: focus on the World Heavyweight Championship and that’s it. From my view, especially if you were rebuilding WCW from the ground-up with The Big Bang, you start small. The main objective should be illustrating the importance of one title. As you go forward, the championships can slowly be filtered into future events.
However, if the rules and rosters were built had WCW continued on and it wasn’t a rebirth of sorts, the title idea works.
Just a small thing I’ve taken away from my days in independent wrestling.
Regardless, I love this idea and much props to both Mr. Melendez and Mr. Kimmel on their booking vision of The Big Bang. On a side note, I know that there were a couple tweets back-and-forth on some synergy between their podcast and The Big Bang May 6. I’m more than down.
Over time, I will be digging deep and seeing what other fantasy booking was created over the past twenty-plus years and review it. Seems like a fun concept.

Love this idea:

Need to avoid a repeat of the 2000 Spring Stampede reset. Too many titles, too little talent available.
