Over the years, I have heard countless wrestling personalities, either on camera or during interviews, complain about one WCW character. A character that never seemed to take off and was pure "WrestleCrap".

When you think of Macho Man Randy Savage in the world of professional wrestling, you mainly revisit his work in the World Wrestling Federation, especially his WrestleMania III match with Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat for the Intercontinental Championship, winning two WWF Championships, his “Match Made In Heaven” with Miss Elizabeth at SummerSlam 1991, and his stellar color commentary during his early days with Monday Night Raw.

To counterbalance the vision of the NEW BLOOD OF THE FINAL DAYS series on TheBigBangMay6.com, I’ve decided to talk about the first era of Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara after coming over from the World Wrestling Federation in October 1999.

On this date 25 years ago, World Championship Wrestling figuratively and literally rebooted its entire creative direction.

On this date 24 years ago, from the Boardwalk Beach Resorts in Panama City Beach, FL, WCW held its final Monday Nitro on TNT. 

There is no one more underappreciated, in my opinion, in the history of World Championship Wrestling than Beautiful Bobby Eaton.

Over the last two-plus decades, Crowbar has been a true mentor to the tri-state area and independent wrestling scene. 

Meng is the baddest man in the history of professional wrestling. From his legendary bar-room brawls, including one where he “allegedly” bit the nose off of Jimmy Jack Funk in the mid-1980s, everyone knew that he was not one to mess with.

Going back and researching the final days of World Championship Wrestling, I love to look up unique statistics that not many people could, or would bother to, want to verify. I, the basement wrestling version of Bill James, like to do this from time-to-time.

WCW/nWo Revenge was released in the United States on October 26, 1998 as the sequel to WCW vs nWo: World Tour, the first WCW game on the N64. Developed by AKI Corporation and published by THQ, the game set all types of records financially for the Nintendo 64 and THQ/AKI. More importantly, the game was incredibly innovative.

In this edition of "In Defense Of...", I've decided to write about one of the moments in WCW history that many people believe was the beginning of the end of World Championship Wrestling.
